Voyageur Canoe Group Reservations
Imagine you and your family and friends paddling a 30-foot Thompson-style Voyageur canoe. This is a great outdoor group outing idea and a fabulous opportunity to work as a team for up to 15 paddlers. This boat is a replica, birch bark canoe used by fur traders 200 years ago. The 30-foot Voyageur canoe is a large volume, extremely stable canoe that requires very little water to navigate, yet is very easy to paddle and maneuver. We will take groups, with a reservation, out for a two-hour adventure. Call 651-429-8007 for more information and to set up an outing on either the Mississippi or Rum rivers, and Centerville Lake in Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park.

Voyageur Canoe
Want to step back in time and travel like a fur trader? Here is your chance to paddle a 30-foot Thompson-style Voyageur canoe down the Mississippi River, guided by Parks staff. The popular introduction to kayaking class is now being offered at beautiful Bunker Beach Water Park. This is truly a unique opportunity to learn the basics and have a fun and safe time kayaking. Instead of being in a kayak for the first time on a big lake or moving river, you will be in a pool. This fun sport is easy to learn and is a wonderful way to spend time outdoors. Canoe and Kayak by the Light of the Moon
Imagine enjoying a beautiful sunset followed by a full moon, all while sitting in a kayak on the water. This popular event is truly like no other program offered. We will head out on the water and let Mother Nature entertain us with an abundance of wildlife, a beautiful sunset, and a spectacular full moon. The Anoka County Parks and Recreation Department is offering the popular introductory level kayaking class at several locations around the county. Advanced Kayaking: The Next Level!
The second level class is designed for kayakers with some previous paddling experience. You will learn a variety of second level skills including wet exits and entries, draw and sweep strokes, bracing, and more. Reduce fatigue and increase your paddling enjoyment by improving your technique. Advanced kayaking classes will be held at Centerville Lake and Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park. Our Backyard Nature Preschool
Forest Lake Early Childhood programs and the Wargo Nature Center have partnered to offer a three day a week preschool experience for children 4 and 5 years of age. Monday and Wednesday classes will be held at Wargo Nature Center in Lino Lakes and will have a strong emphasis on nature and the outdoors. Friday class will be held at Lino Lakes Elementary (just two miles down the road) to give children traditional classroom experiences. All classes focus on building skills for future school success. Opportunities for parent involvement offered throughout the year. Class size is limited so register now! Child must be 4 years of age by September 1, 2012. Biking Camp Summer Camp
Biking is one of the best ways to travel near your home or just about anywhere! Learn how to maintain and keep your bike running smoothly. A bike officer will teach biking safety. We will ride every day, traveling longer and longer distances to discover more! Find out what to eat and drink and how to stay healthy while biking during warm summer days! Note: You must bring your own bike and bike helmet. Bikes need to be road bikes with medium to smooth tires. Please, no small dirt bikes or knobby tires.
