We are a group of hunters who have hunted together for over 20 yrs, in many different states from Maine to New Jersey to Pennsylvania to Michigan. We hunt mostly with bows and have been fortunate to bag some really nice bucks in each of these states. Several years ago we began hunting Ohio and WOW. None of us had ever seen such a high proportion bucks to does ,and some of the bucks are really HUGE, not only body size but the racks are massive!!!
Last year 6 of us hunted with just bows, land adjacent to this new lease and we all shot huge bucks. The smallest? had 8 points and weighed about 185.We had such a great time that we decided to lease some land and form a hunting club.Ohio offers an extremely long whitetail season? with seasons for both bow hunting and shotgun also crossbows are legal to use.
Only 1 buck can be taken per year but you can harvest up to 5 does in this area of the state.Also it is legal to use grain to draw deer, making stand hunting way more efficient. The forest in Ohio ranges from fairly open hardwood forest to some of the thickest? "tangle" I have ever seen.The topography is fairly rugged so get in shape for "DRAGGIN".If you are the type of hunter who does not need a guide but likes to hunt in an area which holds some "monster bucks" and perhaps hunt turkey in the off season.This is a fantastic opportunity .
