Apple has been forced to delay the launch of its Retina iPad Mini due to shortages of displays, say reports.

According to Taiwan?s Economic Daily News, the shortage of Retina displays has meant that Apple is unable to meet predicted demand for the rumoured device.

As such, the iPad maker is reported to have pushed back the launch of the higher resolution Mini to early 2014.
The company is understood to have been aiming for a Christmas 2013 launch.
According to the report, the company will offer both Retina and non-Retina versions of the iPad Mini when it does launch.
Concerns about Apple?s ability to source enough Retina screens for its next generation of iPad Minis first emerged earlier this year.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo warned at the time that technical challenges would mean that a Retina enabled iPad Mini would not arrive until September at the earliest.
Other analysts had predicted a much earlier launch.
In May, NPD DisplaySearch predicted that Apple would release a non-Retina iPad Mini this year, with the Retina-enabled model following in early 2014.
It reiterated the predicting last month, adding that the non-Retina model would be a thinner, non-Retina model.
