Child actors from ITV?s Emmerdale played against Silsden men in a charity football match on Saturday.

Youngsters including 11-year-old Jack Downham, who plays Noah Tate, played alongside crew members from the drama serial.

Members of the Emmerdale team won the individual prizes, but the match went to their opponents, the Chris Brown Trust Select XI.

Proceeds of the game at Silsden Sports Club will help fund the trust?s work supporting local people in difficulty due to personal loss or injury.

Members of the Select XI played in memory of their late friend Chris Brown, who died in 2009 aged 24 after receiving a head injury playing for Silsden Park Rangers.

Since then, the trust has supported people including Keighley man John Duffey, who needed money for an operation in Greece after suffering a brain haemorrhage, and Silsden teenager Nathan Cubitt, who was paralysed in a rugby match.

Chris?s brother, Adam, said Saturday?s closely-fought contest ended 2-2, but the Select XI triumphed 5-4 after penalties.

Adam said: ?The winning penalty was scored by Ryan Utley in front of the clubhouse, and after that he was mobbed by his teammates.

?Finally, the cup was lifted by Chris Brown Trust captain and Chris?s best mate, James Whitehead.?

Man-of-the-Match was Nader Mabadi, of Emmerdale, the ?Champagne Moment? went to Paul Westmoreland, also of Emmerdale, and the ?Star Turn? award went to Jack Downham for playing almost the entire match despite his tender years.

Organisers estimate the event, which included family activities, made at least ?5,000.
