An Allentown man, upset over his August breakup with a longtime girlfriend, posted information about serial killers on his Facebook page before turning his status updates into a string of threats, according to court papers.
David Howell, 24, of first block of North Front Street in Allentown, and Kimberly Howell, of Bethlehem, dated for about four years, police say.
On Feb. 4, David Howell allegedly threatened to send photos to the victim's workplace. Court papers say an email he later sent to the victim's workplace ended with her termination. He started texting her several times Feb. 5, telling her he wanted to get back together, records say.
The following day David Howell allegedly told the victim to check his Facebook page, where he had posted links to stories about serial killers, including one titled "Top 50 Serial Killer Moments," court papers say.
A string of posts Feb. 7, after Kimberly Howell had obtained a protection from abuse order, included at least one threat that the victim believed was directed at her children, court records say.
"Strike at your core and hurt the youngest part of you," David Howell allegedly wrote on the social media website.
Another threat was more explicit, court papers show.
"Just because I am so quiet doesn't mean you shouldn't look over your shoulder for me. I will come in the night when you least expect me to exact my revenge," he allegedly posted.
Howell was charged with terroristic threats and harassment. He was arraigned before District Judge James Narlesky in Hanover Township, Northampton County, and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.
