There's no doubt: dating after divorce can be either an exciting or scary prospect. The vast majority of people who get divorced do go on to date again, and online dating expands the pool of people with whom they might connect. That said, any unresolved issues from your divorce could surface in a new relationship. There is a reason why rebound relationships can be intense and (usually) don't last.

I decided to ask people who had been through my classes, were divorced and had started dating again what their experiences were of online dating and any advice they might have. The results were mixed, but there were some common themes:

In fact, that number is as high as 80 percent. One of the most common comments was that people embellished their profiles ? or even flat-out lied. According to research, women tended to lie about their weight or age while men tended to lie about things like their height or income. People who have no profile photos (or use "you" instead of "I," which may be indicative of dodging the truth about themselves) should be approached with caution. On the other hand, make sure you have up-to-date photos that accurately represent who you are too! Keep reading...
