The concept of using mats has been a popular concept in martial arts for many years.

This is because while MMA is the new rage in martial arts training circles, the fact that martial artist of all styles have been opposed to being injured since the sport began.

How Many Pieces Do You Need?

How many square footage you need for you mat in order to properly grapple on it is a very common question.

The number of people who will be grappling on the mat is one factor to consider.

If you are running a large class with a number of people, you will want to cover the bulk of the floor with the mat. There should be no space that is not covered by the puzzle mat or mats.

Small grappling sessions with fewer people usually only require a 12?12 mat space. If that seems to be too small of a space, you can simply add to it. It is better to have too much rather than too little.

Choose a reputable manufacturer who?s products are good quality. Check MMA websites for reviews and detailed information on puzzle mats. You can often order straight from the site.

It is a definite that you need a mat to workout on, the only thing is question is which mat you feel will work best for you. If you like the concept of being able to add to and take away from your mat space and the idea of being able to easily store it, the puzzle mat just might be the one for you.
